As Halloween nears, DHS social studies teacher Bryan Hellkamp concocted a spine-chilling playlist for The Spectrum. Enjoy his selections, as well as his commentary below.

Considering the season, I figured it would make the most sense to choose the songs we’re listening to the most as a family.

So here goes. These are probably the top 5 songs we hear on our spooky season playlist.

“Spooky, Scary Skeletons (Undead Tombstone Remix)” – Andrew Gold

We start off with a fun one with a twist. This is a remix of the original version and actually SLAMS!

“Bloody Mary” – Lady Gaga

From the Netflix series Wednesday (and from the TikTok trend).

“Vampire” – Olivia Rodrigo

It’s not a spooky season song, but my daughter made sure it made it to the playlist regardless.

“Time Warp” – Rocky Horror Picture Show

Cult classic from the 1970s that still has a following today.

“The Devil Went Down to Georgia” – The Charlie Daniels Band

Another classic!
